The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly open to trading two of their biggest veteran pieces, Nic Claxton and Michael Porter Jr., if the return matches their valuation.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, Brooklyn would consider moving either Claxton or Porter Jr. as the franchise continues reshaping its roster around a younger core.

The Nets finished the 2025-26 season 20-62, leaving them focused on long-term development and asset accumulation.

Porter Jr. was Brooklyn’s leading scorer after joining the team ahead o the 2025-26 season, averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 52 games. He shot 46.3% from the field, 36.3% from three-point range and 85.9% from the free-throw line while carrying a significant offensive workload.

The 27-year-old forward has one year remaining on his contract and is owed $40.8 million next season. However, his deal is only partially guaranteed, which could make him an attractive trade candidate for teams looking for scoring while preserving future flexibility.

Porter’s shooting ability remains his biggest asset. He attempted 9.3 three-pointers per game and made 3.4 per night, giving Brooklyn a high-volume perimeter scorer in a season where spacing was a consistent challenge.

Claxton’s situation is different. The 27-year-old center has two years left on his contract and will earn $23 million next season. He averaged 11.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 blocks in 69 games while shooting 57.1% from the field.

A switchable defender and rim protector, Claxton has been one of Brooklyn’s most reliable players through its transition period. His ability to defend in space and finish around the basket makes him valuable to teams searching for frontcourt stability.

The Nets’ willingness to move either player comes as they continue building around younger players such as Noah Clowney, Egor Demin and Nolan Traore. Clowney averaged 12.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 2025-26, while Demin posted 10.3 points and 3.3 assists as a rookie guard.

Brooklyn also holds the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and another first-round selection at No. 33, giving the franchise additional flexibility as it evaluates its roster.

The 2026 draft class includes top prospects such as AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer and Darryn Peterson, creating another opportunity for the Nets to add young talent.
