Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayNate Diaz delivered a classic response to those who want him to retire after he was stopped by Mike Perry.
Diaz and Perry collided in the MVP MMA 1 co-main event this past Saturday. The bout was just as violent as advertised, but the Stockton legend was the one covered in blood by the end of the fight. Perry ended up scoring a second-round TKO via corner stoppage, which Diaz admitted was the right call given that the blood got in his eyes.
Despite the defeat, Diaz was in good spirits when speaking to media members during the MVP MMA 1 post-fight press conference.
“‘You should hang them up,'” Diaz mocked those who want him to retire. “Maybe I just don’t fight the most violent. Maybe I just fight the second most violent. People just like, ‘Maybe I’m done. I’m retired. Here’s my gloves in the cage.’ I’m like, ‘You should’ve just not fought the most violent [expletive] out there alive and you would’ve been okay.”
Diaz is now 1-2 in his post-UFC combat sports efforts. He was defeated by Jake Paul via unanimous decision in a boxing match but followed that up with a majority decision win over Jorge Masvidal. The bout against Perry was Diaz’s first pro MMA bout since making his UFC exit.
Losses rarely impact Diaz’s stock, so he figures to remain a highly sought after attraction for other promotions. Whether or not he will continue to do business with Most Valuable Promotions remains to be seen. The Perry bout was the lone fight on Diaz’s MVP deal.
