Welcome to the Minor League Update. Every day, we tell you the latest about what happened to the prospects you care about, and maybe a few more you should. Here’s who made waves yesterday:

Hitter of the Day

Rainiel Rodriguez, C/1B, St. Louis Cardinals (Double-A Springfield): 4-5, 2B, HR, 3 R, 3 RBI.
BP Prospect Team member Grant Schiller unequivocally called Rodriguez a future star in a ten pack from earlier this season, and the 19-year-old has done nothing in the intervening months to call Grant’s judgement into question. Slashing .317/.401/.564 (and that’s before Wednesday night’s effort) over nearly 400 plate appearances at Double-A as a teenaged regular catcher is not normal.

Pitcher of the Day

Bishop Letson, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers (Double-A Biloxi): 6 ⅓ IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 9 K, 1 BB.
As was chronicled hereabouts last month, Letson has evolved since his 11th-round selection back in 2024 into a potential mid-rotation starter, using an arsenal led by two low-slot fastballs and a big low-80s sweeper. He’d been having a rough go of it recently—his ERA jumped from 4.28 on July 19 to 5.38 after a particularly painful outing on August 21—but he’s now thrown three solid starts in a row, even as he’s battled a bit with walks.
