Welcome to the Minor League Update. The minor league season is wrapping up with the playoff action. Due to the dearth of games, this will serve to cover the whole week, and close out the season before returning during the winter leagues. Here’s who made waves this week:

Hitter of the Week

Vance Honeycutt, OF, Baltimore Orioles (AFL Peoria): 3-5, 4 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 5 BB, SB.

A former first-round selection with potential plus speed and power, Honeycutt has struggled as a professional, striking out in nearly 40% of his at-bats since his debut in 2024. There was a brief glimmer of hope at the end of the season after a promotion to Double-A Chesapeake. It’s a small sample, but in Honeycutt’s 20 Eastern League games, the K-rate dipped considerably and he slashed a much improved .288/.381/.616. The hot bat has followed him to the desert and if he can carry the development gains into 2027, Honeycutt might finally turn into an impact performer.
