The Chicago White Sox have shown improvements in their early-season performance, and Miguel Vargas has been a key contributor to their success

Playing in his third season with the team, he's deserving of more recognition. The 26-year-old has been overlooked despite showing early-season breakout signs and performing as a high-impact player.

He's illustrated himself as a power threat early this season with a memorable performance against the Miami Marlins on March 30. Hitting a grand slam and collecting six RBI was the start of his dominance this season.

In his most recent offensive surge, he crushed his ninth home run of the season in the White Sox's 6-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

The home run carried an exit velocity of 112.9 mph and went 404 feet deep. The home run was monumental as it was the hardest hit ball of his career. Vargas is slashing .228/.369/.471 with 21 RBI and six stolen bases this season.

Making the case for Miguel Vargas

His xBA has also shown revampment at .248, and he's demonstrated elite plate discipline. He ranks in the 99th percentile with a chase rate of 16.3 percent, as well as his 16.7 percent walk rate, which ranks in the 93rd percentile.

His bat-to-bat skills have shown an improved strikeout rate (16.7 percent), reflecting the skill set that developed him into a top-40 prospect. He's also transformed his power by delivering more reliable hard contact (44 percent hard-hit rate).

Vargas' solid 2025 campaign had him record 32 doubles, 118 hits, 16 home runs and six stolen bases. But he's already on pace and poised to record career-highs this season. He has already reached the total number of stolen bases from last season (six). His 28.3 mph sprint speed ranks in the 83rd percentile and contributes to his aggressiveness on the basepaths.
