Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayA Michael Jordan game-used jersey set a public sale record for NBA memorabilia Tuesday night, selling for $12.26 million through Pharrell Williams' auction house Joopiter. The jersey, worn by Jordan in Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals during the Chicago Bulls' "Last Dance" season, surpassed the previous high for a Jordan jersey, set when his Game 1 jersey from the same series sold for nearly $10.1 million at a 2022 Sotheby's auction.
The jersey remains behind Babe Ruth's 1932 World Series "called shot" jersey as the most expensive sports jersey ever sold, which fetched $24.12 million in 2024.
Joopiter had set a pre-auction estimate between $10 million and $15 million for the jersey, which received one bid before the auction closed.
Joopiter's global head of sale, Caitlin Donovan, commented on the significance of the sale.
"It has been a privilege for Joopiter to bring such an important piece of Michael Jordan's legacy to market, and to see it establish a new auction record for an NBA jersey," said Donovan. "Sports collectibles are in an exceptionally exciting period of evolution, as the category continues to mature and objects of true rarity, provenance and cultural significance are increasingly recognized on the global collecting stage."
Joopiter has handled several other notable Jordan sales in recent years. A signed 1986 Fleer rookie card with a Mint PSA 9 grade and Gem Mint 10 autograph grade sold for $2.5 million through the auction house in June 2025. Jordan's custom 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello remains up for auction, with bidding surpassing $1 million ahead of its scheduled close Wednesday.
