Michael Chandler has given his two cents on the UFC 329 headliner: Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2.

Later tonight, former UFC double champ Conor McGregor returns to the octagon after a five-year layoff. The Notorious” last competed in 2021 against Dustin Poirier, where he broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg, which sidelined him for years.

Holloway, on the other hand, is coming off a loss to BMF champion Charles Oliveira in their rematch at UFC 326.

This McGregor vs. Holloway 2 clash is a five-round welterweight clash and also Holloway’s 170-pound debut.

During an interview with UFC on TNT Sports, while breaking down Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2, Chandler chose “Blessed” to win. He said:

“Conor’s got a tough test ahead of him. Max Holloway is one of the most complete mixed martial artists on the planet. You gotta give the edge to Max.”

Michael Chandler wanted to be Conor McGregor’s comeback opponent

Michael Chandler was originally supposed to fight Conor McGregor on his return. In 2023, the two served as opposing coaches on TUF 31, and they were scheduled to face each other in the main event of UFC 303 in 2024. However, the Irishman had to pull out due to a toe injury.

In 2026, although Chandler and McGregor were still game to fight each other, UFC CEO Dana White was no longer interested in this fight and chose Holloway as McGregor’s comeback opponent.
Chandler is currently on a four-fight losing skid and most recently got knocked out by Mauricio Ruffy at the White House.

Sources suggest that “Iron” will move up to welterweight for his next fight following a difficult run at lightweight.
