Petr Yan punches Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 323

UFC star Merab Dvalishvili has provided an update on his current training plan ahead of a possible third fight against Petr Yan.

When you talk about fighters who have the best cardio in mixed martial arts, Merab Dvalishvili has to feature pretty highly on the list. He has proven himself to be one of the most in-shape athletes on the entire roster, but in his last fight against Petr Yan, that didn’t help him all too much as he fell to a defeat and lost his title in the process.

Now, many are talking about the possibility of Dvalishvili getting a rematch for the belt, which seems to be the direction that the UFC is heading in.

In a recent livestream, Dvalishvili had the following to say about his current training setup.

Dvalishvili talks about current training plan

“This is pretty much how I’m gonna work against Petr and this feels like a real training camp for me, we talk a lot, we’re training smart and this is what I need, last time I fought Petr I was training hard, now I’m training smart,” he said during a recent livestream.

“This is my second training session (of the day), and I have a private wrestling training with coach Jesse, he is my new coach, he has been helping me with private training in his gym in Vegas.”

For a long time, Merab has been training with the likes of John Wood and Ray Longo, both of whom have served as integral pieces of the puzzle in his rise to prominence in the bantamweight division.

At this stage in his career, it will certainly be interesting to see whether or not he will be able to keep pushing forward, perhaps even winning another world title before riding off into the sunset.
