Max Holloway, Conor McGregor

Max Holloway has something else in mind if he doesn’t get a third fight with Conor McGregor potentially later this year or next year.

Holloway most recently secured a TKO win in just 69 seconds at UFC 329 against “The Notorious.” As the bout started, the Irishman, who had returned to the octagon after five years, injured his knee while throwing a wild flying kick. Although McGregor wanted to keep fighting despite a busted-up knee, referee Mike Beltran was forced to stop the fight as the Irishman kept falling to the ground and was clearly in pain, unable to put pressure on his lead leg.

Given how their rematch ended, Holloway immediately called out McGregor and the UFC brass to run it back ASAP as soon as the former UFC double champion is healed and ready.

However, fans still do not know how long “The Notorious” will take to return this time. The 38-year-old has yet to reveal whether he suffered a torn ACL, a meniscus tear, or something worse, but has confirmed that he will be going under the knife soon for the injury he suffered on July 11 against “Blessed.”

However, McGregor has promised fans he is plotting another comeback, and most recently posted on X, stating that his return opponent has to be Holloway.

Speaking about a potential Holloway vs. McGregor 3 bout, Dana White recently said that he will focus on McGregor when the latter is ready, and for now, the UFC CEO has a lot of other important things to take care of.

What does Max Holloway want if he does not get to fight Conor McGregor a third time?

Max Holloway wants to run it back with Conor McGregor ‘one more time for the boys,’ but if the UFC brass doesn’t grant him what he wishes for, he wants a rematch with newly minted 155-pound titleholder Justin Gaethje. He recently said on his stream:

“If it’s not Conor, give your boy a title shot. Me and Justin got history. You know it’s gonna be a striking war, so why not?”

Holloway knocked out “The Highlight” cold with just one second remaining on the clock at UFC 300 to win the BMF title. Now, with Gaethje holding the undisputed lightweight championship, Holloway has set his sights on the 37-year-old once again.

The Hawaiian wants to attain two-division glory before thinking about retirement, and beating Gaethje again is all he needs to do to get that second belt.
