UFC veteran Max Holloway has given a reason why he’s excited about making the move up to welterweight for his next fight.

As we know, Max Holloway will make his return to action in the main event of UFC 329 when he goes head to head with Conor McGregor. It will serve as the first time the two have fought in over ten years, and when they did first meet, it was the Irishman who managed to get his hand raised in victory.

Of course, a lot has changed since then, and Holloway is widely considered to be the favorite to win the rematch – although, one potential obstacle is that it’s at welterweight, where Conor has a lot more experience.

In a recent stream, Holloway spoke about some of the reasons why he’s a fan of making the jump up in weight.

Max Holloway says he’s known about the Conor McGregor fight for a while and had to keep it secret:

“You know how hard it is to keep that fight under wraps for how long we did? We knew that fight for a minute bro.

Holloway discusses McGregor rematch

“You guys know how hard it is to keep that fight under wraps for how long we did?” Holloway asked his fans on his first stream since it was announced. “We knew about that fight for a minute, bro. Now it’s coming through.”

“I’m excited, I get to eat what I want to eat during all of camp, boys! Imagine I missed weight at 170lb, holy s—. What the hell am I doing?”

While Max may be excited about getting to eat whatever he wants, there’s also a worry about whether or not he’ll be undersized when he goes up to 170 pounds. McGregor has fought there a few times before, and he seems to be the naturally bigger man of the two.

Either way, this is easily the most anticipated fight of the year that’s currently booked, and it’s exactly what the UFC needs.
