Max Anstie will not line up at this weekend’s Hangtown National. The British rider is still dealing with the effects of the crash he suffered during qualifying at the opening round of the season at Fox Raceway.

Anstie went down during the second qualifying session in Pala, California. Despite the incident, he attempted to start the first moto, hoping that he would begin to feel better and find his rhythm as the race progressed.

“I’ve done everything I could to be ready for Hangtown this weekend, but I’m still too beaten up,” Anstie said. “I’ll be back on the bike next week, and the plan is to return for the third round of the championship in Colorado.”

The Brit explained that he quickly realized during the first moto that his condition was actually getting worse.

“After my crash in the second qualifying session at Pala, I thought a few laps might help me loosen up. But as the moto went on, I started feeling worse instead of better. That’s why I decided to pull off.”

Fortunately, medical examinations revealed no serious injuries.

“I had X-rays taken, and nothing is broken,” Anstie added.

If his recovery continues according to plan, Anstie hopes to make his return at the third round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Colorado.
