Just seven months after completing one of the greatest offensive seasons by a catcher in MLB history, Seattle Mariners star Cal Raleigh has done a complete 180 in terms of production.

Cal Raleigh is creeping up on history, in a bad way

After a 0-for-4 performance on Monday, Raleigh is now hitless in his last 36 at-bats. Raleigh's last hit came all the way back on April 27, over two weeks ago.

The MLB record for most consecutive hitless at-bats was set by former Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis. Davis went 54 consecutive at-bats without recording a hit during the 2019 season.

Cal Raleigh is at the bottom of the league in nearly every offensive category

Entering Tuesday, Raleigh's slash line of .157/.238/.320 is among the worst in all of MLB. The average ranks second worst, the on-base percentage ranks fifth worst and his .559 OPS is the 10th worst among qualified hitters.

Raleigh is also tied with three other players for the ninth most strikeouts this season with 54. Simply put, Raleigh has been one of the worst hitters in MLB this season.

Could Tuesday be the day it ends?

Tuesday's night game against the Houston Astros may provide Raleigh with his best chance to end the skid. Seattle will be up against Tatsuya Imai, who is returning from injury.

In his last start before the injury, Imai lasted just 1/3 of an inning against the Mariners, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks. Raleigh will be seeing Imai for the second time this season and may finally be able to snap out of his funk.

If not, he'll creep closer to making some unwanted history.
