Luka Doncic scored 23 points as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings 114-110 in a preseason matchup on Thursday at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers improved to 2-1 in preseason play, while Sacramento dropped to 0-2.

Doncic led Los Angeles offensively, finishing with 23 points, three rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes. He shot 6-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-6 from three-point range, and made all nine of his free-throw attempts. The Slovenian guard also committed five turnovers.

Sandro Mamukelashvili provided a major contribution off the bench, recording 19 points, four assists and three rebounds in 21 minutes. He made seven of his 10 field-goal attempts, including three of six from beyond the arc, helping the Lakers build an advantage that proved crucial in the closing stages.

Jake LaRavia added 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including three three-pointers, while Quentin Grimes scored 12 points. Austin Reaves finished with eight points and eight assists in 25 minutes, helping organize the Lakers’ offense.

Los Angeles took control in the second quarter, outscoring Sacramento 36-23 to establish a 57-43 halftime lead. The Lakers extended their advantage to 86-70 by the end of the third quarter and appeared firmly in command heading into the final period.

However, Sacramento mounted a late comeback. The Kings scored 40 points in the fourth quarter, taking advantage of Los Angeles’ reduced lead to make the closing minutes more competitive. Daeqwon Plowden scored 15 points off the bench, including three three-pointers, while Jonathan Mogbo added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Precious Achiuwa led Sacramento’s starters with 18 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field, and collected five rebounds. Maxime Raynaud recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Darius Acuff Jr. contributed 12 points. Zach LaVine finished with 11 points and four assists but committed no turnovers.

The Kings’ late rally was not enough to overcome the deficit. Sacramento cut the margin to four points in the final seconds, but the Lakers held on to secure the win.

Los Angeles finished shooting 46% from the field and 33% from three-point range, compared with Sacramento’s 45% overall shooting and 28% from beyond the arc. The Lakers also made 31 of 38 free throws, while the Kings converted 16 of 24 attempts.
