Lotte van Drunen of the De Baets AIT Racing Team endured a difficult weekend during the second round of the WMX World Championship in Teutschenthal, Germany. Despite several setbacks, the reigning world champion once again demonstrated her fighting spirit but ultimately had to settle for tenth place overall.

Just one week after the opening round in France, Van Drunen travelled to the iconic Talkessel circuit in Teutschenthal. On the technical track, the Yamaha rider immediately felt comfortable and posted the fourth-fastest time in qualifying.

In the first moto, Van Drunen delivered a strong performance for a long period. Running inside the top five, she steadily moved forward during the race and even took the lead at one point. However, a small mistake in the closing stages led to a crash, and she went down again later, eventually finishing in fourth place.

The second moto also started promisingly with a decent start, until things went wrong in the opening lap. After a jump, Lotte collided mid-air with another rider, resulting in a heavy crash.

Fortunately, the damage was limited, and the 18-year-old was able to continue the race. From the back of the field, she began an impressive recovery ride and managed to climb back to 18th position.

With a fourth and 18th place in the motos, Van Drunen finished tenth overall on the day. After two rounds, she currently sits ninth in the WMX World Championship standings.
