Leicester City have made contact to sign an ex-Queens Park Rangers forward, as they look to rebuild ahead of their upcoming League One campaign.
Foxes Trust call for 'complete reset' after relegation to League One
With Leicester dropping to League one for only the second time in their history, following a dismal Championship campaign, the Foxes Trust have now called for a 'complete reset' of the club, and five major changes.
- Jon Rudkin to depart
- A reset of the Fan Engagement Framework
- Reduced ticket prices
- Communication of a "credible" five-year plan
- Consultation of fans on matchday experience
There will also need to be wholesale changes to the squad too, with 10 players being released, including Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka and captain Ricardo Pereira.
Daka leaves after contributing five goals and four assists in 41 Championship matches, whereas Jordan Ayew found the net just six times in 42 outings, with two of those goals coming from the penalty spot.
It remains unclear who will replace Gary Rowett in the King Power Stadium dugout. However, with two forwards departing, the new manager will need to strengthen his attacking options this summer, and an approach has already been made for a Championship star.
Taking to X, reporter Ben Jacobs has now revealed Leicester have made contact to sign Lyndon Dykes, who has received a contract extension offer from Charlton Athletic, with the London club keen for him to remain at The Valley next season.
Millwall have also made a proposal to sign the Scot, who is set to travel to the World Cup next month, and he is available on a free transfer, with his current Charlton deal set to expire this summer.
The Australia-born forward has represented Scotland on 50 occasions, scoring ten goals, and he has found the back of the net 84 times at club level, having spent time with QPR, Queen of the South, Birmingham City and Livingston, with his career goal tally currently at 94.
The 30-year-old was particularly impressive during his stint with QPR, registering 37 goals and 12 assists in 165 appearances for the Loftus Road outfit before making a move to Birmingham in the early stages of the 2024-25 season.

Lauded as "brilliant" by Sky Sports writer Stuart Hodge, Dykes has proven he is more than capable of performing at Championship level, which suggests he could be a coup for Leicester in League One.
However, the centre-forward didn't exactly flourish during his most recent stint in the third tier, netting just one goal in 25 appearances for Birmingham in the 2024-25 campaign, so he may not be a sure-fire success.
