Leeds United are set to hold formal discussions to sign a "sensational" Premier League player, with his club now open to a summer sale.

Leeds' stellar form during the business end of the season was enough to secure Premier League safety with plenty time to spare, and Daniel Farke's side ultimately finished eight points clear of the relegation zone.

The Whites were relegated in their second season in the top flight last time around though, and Paraag Marathe isn't resting on his laurels, with the chairman of the belief it will take two full seasons before the Whites can start behaving like a Premier League team.

"We remain ambitious but measured and deliberate, understanding that it will take three long-fought seasons before we can truly operate like an established Premier League side.

"This summer, instead of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) will impact our transfer market approach. As our accounts reflect, we spent every penny possible, as promised, to earn promotion and keep the club in the Premier League.

"Our approach to the transfer market will once again be strategic and disciplined to comply with regulations while striving further to improve, and players will both arrive and depart as a result."

As such, fans probably shouldn't be expecting a number of high-profile additions to the squad in the upcoming window, but it appears as though the door could be open for the Elland Road outfit to sign a Liverpool player.

Leeds set for talks to sign "sensational" Liverpool player

According to a report from Sports Boom, Leeds are now planning to hold formal talks regarding a deal for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, with Arne Slot's side prepared to offload the Englishman for around €30m - €35m (£26m - £30m) this summer.

Having spent the season out on loan at Aston Villa, where game time was extremely limited, the 23-year-old is 'demanding' regular minutes at his next club, with Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Coventry City and RB Leipzig also keen.

The Whites are willing to 'take the necessary steps' to secure Elliott's signature, with the 28-cap England U21 international picking up 15 goals and 21 assists in 149 matches for Liverpool prior to joining Villa on loan.

One of those assists came in the Reds' memorable 7-0 triumph against Manchester United back in 2023, after which the former Fulham man was lauded as "sensational" by The Redmen TV's Paul Machin.

Despite still being relatively young, Elliott, who is represented by the same agency as Anton Stach, has won nine trophies at club level, alongside two U21 European Championships, and he could be an exciting signing for Leeds.
