Tom is a football journalist with five years of experience. He has been featured in the Non-League Paper, Crawley Observer, Sussex Express and The RedmenTV - producing features, news and conducting interviews.

For Football FanCast, Tom has sat down with a number of names from the industry, including Ally McCoist, Philippe Senderos and Chris Waddle. Elsewhere, he has covered the National League South final, the Formula E London Prix, Crawley Town and Brighton’s U21s.

Tom enjoys writing features about teams in the Football League and Premier League, whilst also receiving the opportunity to conduct interviews on behalf of FFC.

Having written for The RedmenTV, he is particularly an expert on all things Liverpool.

The beach will be a tempting offer for all involved at Elland Road right now. Somewhere in the Caribbean is calling Daniel Farke's name after securing Premier League safety at the first time of asking, but he's going to have to settle for a suntan in the boardroom, as a hectic summer gets underway at Leeds United.

The Yorkshire club will be working on a cure for second-season syndrome as we speak, and that could come in the form of several new arrivals.

Leeds now targeting 25-goal star

Although Paraag Marathe admitted that SCR rules (formerly, PSR) will have to be considered this summer, that should not stop Leeds from spending if they do it wisely.

They've already been linked with several new names, including James Trafford and Harry Wilson. The latter would be a particularly impressive signing following an excellent campaign at Fulham, though it remains to be seen if he will put pen to paper on a new deal in West London.

Before Wilson or anyone else arrives, however, the 49ers could turn their full focus towards welcoming a player who just picked up a Golden Boot.

According to SportsBoom, Leeds are interested in signing Ayase Ueda from Feyenoord this summer. The Japan international just scored 25 goals in the Eredivisie, more than anyone else, and is on the radar of a number of Premier League sides.

It's reported that any suitor could see a £30m bid accepted to sign the player with that the fee the Dutch side are hoping to receive as interest builds.

That said, Everton have jumped ahead of Leeds right now by preparing an offer, that offer is likely to be rejected at around £20m.

That gives the Whites ample time to swoop in and sign a player who would be even better than Dominic Calvert-Lewin under Farke next season.

Why Ueda could take Leeds' attack to new level

No one can deny that Calvert-Lewin enjoyed a fantastic first season at Elland Road last time out.

He led the line to take the club to safety and was the biggest benefactor to Farke's formation change. But his injury history and form over the years suggests that Leeds need someone else to fall back on.

That could come courtesy of Ueda. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers and less one-dimensional than Calvert-Lewin. If Leeds are forced to change system again next season, it is the Japan international who is best placed to adapt compared to his potential competition.

Ueda simply tends to be far more active than Calvert-Lewin. The Feyenoord man took over one shot more per game than Calvert-Lewin last season and enjoyed a higher xG.

He wasn't exactly wasteful with that xG or those shots, either. He finished on 25 goals and outperformed his expected total by almost seven goals. Give him a chance and Ueda will likely find himself wheeling away in celebration.

For all Calvert-Lewin's strengths in a version of the Premier League which is becoming centred around physicality, he underperformed in front of goal in the last campaign.

When second-season syndrome threatens to kick in, that wastefulness could come at the ultimate price at Elland Road. It's why someone like Ueda must arrive in the coming months.

Now is not the time for the Yorkshire club to sit back, admire their work and take a sip of their beach-bound drink. Quite the opposite, in fact. They've got the chance to build on a side ready to become undeniably established in the top flight this summer.
