I don’t know a lot about mountain biking in Norway, but seeing Danny MacAskill’s new video shot there makes me want to visit with a bike in tow. MacAskill rides three different fjord-adjacent “zones” in the video — Escalator, Superbowl, and Mission Ridge. Naturally, his title sponsor for the video, Bosch, is front and center, but given the terrain, riding a bike with a motor looks like a pretty good idea to me.
Impossibly steep and seemingly never-ending solid granite ramps lead to some pretty epic views. Along the way, MacAskill pulls off an uncomfortably long backward nose manual and shows off some impressive technical riding along a ridge and down a narrow spine. It’s impossible to focus on both MacAskill and the otherworldly scene around him at the same time; I had to watch the video twice just to take it all in.
The video finishes with a crazy steep descent, presumably back to civilization for a battery recharge. This may not be what we think of as “trail” riding, but it definitely looks epic.
