Day 1: Departure from Zadar

As a port of embarkation, we choose Zadar, one of the most important seaside resorts in Croatia but it is also a place rich in history, famous for the Roman and Venetian ruins that outline its historic center, starting with the forum.

There are many monuments that can be admired in Zadar. The most important is the church of San Donato, one of the most important Byzantine monuments in Dalmatia, built at the beginning of the 9th century on the pavement of the Roman forum. The building is the symbol of the city and a visit here is essential.

Between the churches of San Donato and Santa Maria extends the area of the ancient Roman forum, of which unfortunately few fragments remain, while of the system of 10 towers originally placed on the edge of the walls only the Captain’s tower, built by the Venetians, remains. to resist the attacks of the Turks.

In Zadar, there is certainly no shortage of beaches where you can relax and enjoy the sea.

Families with children love Kolovare beach, a large beach surrounded by a pine forest complete with a playground, and Borik beach, also characterized by beautiful stretches of soft sand, slides, and water parks.

Then there is Punta Bajlo, which can be reached by continuing the walk along the sea to the southern promontory, in the Arbanasi area.

We stop in Zdrelac, the first town on the island of Pasman that we meet once we pass the bridge that connects the island of Pasman to the island of Ugljan. Sand is the main feature of Pasman Island, famous for its golden sandy beaches and spectacularly colored sea

Beyond the strait that separates the island Pasman from the island Ugljan, to overcome which a bridge 210 meters long was built in 1973, there is a beautiful inlet with buoys to anchor boats coming from the nearby mainland.

The island of Pasman is part of the Zadar archipelago and occupies an area of 63 square kilometers. It has eight inhabited centers in the part facing the mainland: Pasman, on the homonymous canal, Tkon in front of Biograd na Moru, Kraj, a country village overlooking vineyards and olive groves, Nevidane with its archaeological remains from the Roman era and Zdrelac immediately after the bridge.

The island is not very animated from a tourist point of view despite hosting a number of small campsites and numerous holiday apartments, but it is rather sought after for its tranquility, beaches, and sandy bottoms easily accessible for children, natural beauty, and proximity. in Zadar. The west coast is planted with vines, while the eastern part is covered by dense Mediterranean scrub.

Thanks to the renowned marina, Sukošan has also become a true paradise for sailors and in general for all those who stop here on board their own boat.
