The Knicks moved within two wins of their first NBA championship in more than five decades after edging the Spurs 105-104 in Game 2 to take a 2-0 lead in the Finals.

New York’s victory dramatically shifted the outlook of the series.

After entering Game 2 with roughly a 53 percent chance of winning the title on prediction markets, the Knicks now sit near 80 percent as they head back to Madison Square Garden.

Jalen Brunson has emerged as the leading candidate for Finals MVP, while Karl-Anthony Towns has strengthened his case following another productive performance.

Meanwhile, Victor Wembanyama’s MVP odds have fallen sharply after San Antonio dropped the opening two games.

Towns paced the Knicks with 21 points, while Brunson and Mikal Bridges added 20 apiece. New York controlled much of the contest before Towns’ foul trouble helped spark a late Spurs comeback attempt.

Wembanyama finished with 29 points and nearly delivered a dramatic finish, but a turnover with under 10 seconds remaining proved costly.

The Spurs star later missed a potential game-winning shot over Mitchell Robinson, allowing New York to escape with another narrow victory.

The series now shifts to Madison Square Garden for Game 3, where the Knicks will look to extend their winning streak to 14 games and move one step closer to ending a championship drought that dates back to 1973.
