New York sports radio legend Mike Francesa raised eyebrows when he suggested that the New York Mets "are trying to trade" shortstop Francisco Lindor amid the team's woes this summer. 

During Tuesday's edition of the "Foul Territory" program, well-known MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic addressed whether or not Lindor will be with a different team by the time the Aug. 3 trade deadline arrives. 

What Ken Rosenthal has heard about Francisco Lindor trade rumors

"I don’t see it," Rosenthal said about the Mets possibly trading Lindor, per Brandon Contes of Awful Announcing. "The one person who reported it was Mike Francesa, the radio talk show host in New York. With all due respect to Mike, he is not a beat reporter, and I have not seen any of this from any of the beat reporters. I have not heard it myself." 

Francesa previously claimed that Lindor and star outfielder Juan Soto did not have a great relationship during the 2025 season. More recently, Francesa said that things between the two players are still "not good," which is why the Mets have determined that "it’s time for Lindor to leave." 

For what it's worth, Mets owner Steve Cohen recently insisted that neither Lindor nor Soto will be "going anywhere" this summer. A subsequent report said that it is "highly unlikely" either Lindor or Soto will be traded anytime soon. 

Ken Rosenthal echoes recent Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto story

"If anything, as Will Sammon (of The Athletic) wrote last week, the situation between Lindor and Juan Soto is better than it was last year, at least that’s what they’re saying," Rosenthal added. 

Sammon wrote for a piece published on July 3 that Lindor and Soto "insist their relationship is fine." Soto told Sammon that his relationship with Lindor "is getting better because it takes time," while Lindor said that Soto is his "brother." 

"I just feel like our relationship has continued to grow over the years," Lindor added about Soto. "We’ve been together for two years now. So there’s no reason to say why it didn’t get off on the right foot or anything. It’s just a relationship. A normal relationship."

In short, it sounds like multiple MLB reporters haven't heard anything to make them believe that Lindor will be traded this summer.
