Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayKawhi Leonard has agreed to waive his 15 percent trade kicker worth $7.45 million to complete his trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors are now hard capped at the first apron. Toronto would have had to expand the deal in order for Leonard to retain his trade kicker.
The Raptors agreed to acquire Leonard from the Clippers in June, but the trade was on hold until the NBA concluded its investigation into salary cap circumvention.
Leonard is expected to sign a contract extension with the Raptors as part of the deal.
The Clippers delayed completing the transaction over the past few days as they set their temporary front office in place following the suspensions for Steve Ballmer and Lawrence Frank.
