Kawhi Leonard is expected to begin negotiating a contract extension with the Toronto Raptors this week after his return to the franchise becomes official.

The veteran forward will officially be acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers once the NBA’s moratorium is lifted on Monday, allowing both sides to immediately begin discussions on a new long-term contract.

Leonard has also hired Harrison Gaines of SLASH Sports as his new agent, and Gaines is expected to lead negotiations on an extension aimed at keeping the former Finals MVP in Toronto for the foreseeable future.

The Raptors are acquiring Leonard from the Clippers in a blockbuster trade that sends Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round picks, a first-round pick swap, and two second-round picks to Los Angeles.
