My work sits at the intersection of three things that belong together:
1) Aikido Principles: structure, balance, breath, timing, and stay calm.
2) Real-World Self-Defence Awareness: practical prevention, simple, easy-to-apply responses, and good decision-making.
3) Natural Health Foundations: habits and complementary approaches that support your body's health and ability to function well.
I keep things practical. If an idea can't be turned into a clear step that you can try, measure, and refine, it just doesn't make it onto this website (or into the harmony newsletter).

A few concrete markers, so you can place where I'm coming from:
- 5th Dan Aikido Senior Instructor: founder and chief instructor of the Arun Aikido Club (1992)
- Pressure Point Self Defence Instructor: (2010) when to act, what to do, how to hit pressure points - the exact position and best angle.
- 700+ students trained: and 50+ grading seminars conducted through the arun aikido club in west sussex UK.
- Thousands: of health treatments given since 1987.
- Qualified in: aikido, self defence, anatomy & physiology, acupressure, reflexology, applied kinesiology, and energy healing.
- Author: of 8 books and producer of multiple videos across aikido, aiki principles, self-defence, pressure points, and well-being.

Why This Site Exists (the short version)
I came to aikido after years of searching through different spiritual and personal-development paths. What kept me in aikido wasn't "mystique" - it was the way good principles show up in everyday life: posture, breath, awareness, stress response, and setback recovery.
Over time, teaching and treating people reinforced the same lesson: progress is usually simple, but it's not random. The right basic fundamentals, done consistently, change everything.
That's what I share here - practical principles and action steps.
