Ahead of the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto asked fans to "keep believing" that the 40-57 Mets can "turn things around." 

After the All-Star Game wrapped up on Tuesday night, Soto made it clear he isn't ready for the Mets to punt on the rest of what seems to be a lost season for the organization.

"A turnaround, that’s what I’m expecting," Soto said about what he hopes the Mets will achieve through September, according to Ben Krimmel of SNY. "Try to get these guys going. We have a lot of talent in there, and talent that can do damage. I feel like we have guys that, they can do it all." 

Mets owner Steve Cohen doesn't plan to completely dismantle the team's roster by making shortstop Francisco Lindor and other players signed via multiyear deals available ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline. That said, the Mets almost certainly will trade away at least a few key contributors over the next couple of weeks in an attempt to build for the future. 

"It’s a long season with plenty of games left, and we’re going to try to win as many as we can," Soto insisted during his comments. He also added that he and his teammates want to put the struggles the Mets have thus far endured this year "behind us, and start from scratch."

Juan Soto reacts to hearing boos from Philadelphia fans

Soto and the Mets will begin a three-game series at the rival Philadelphia Phillies (54-43) on Thursday. The Phillies served as the hosts of this year's All-Star festivities, and members of the Philadelphia faithful loudly booed Soto multiple times on Tuesday night. 

"It's great," Soto said about what he heard at Citizens Bank Park. "Like they always say, 'If they booing you, you doing things right.' So, I just embrace it, enjoy it, take it. Take a deep breath, keep moving."

"Take a deep breath" and "keep moving" could prove to be useful advice for Soto and other Mets players who likely won't be part of any playoff conversations come September.
