Josh Hokit criticized Tom Aspinall's offensive approach in fights

Josh Hokit doesn’t think Tom Aspinall’s injury issues can be taken serious when Michael Bisping fought on despite losing an eye.

Aspinall has been forced to miss all of 2o26 inside the Octagon due to his eye problems, which began after suffering a double poke against Ciryl Gane in their Oct. 2025 title fight. The fight was ruled a no contest as Aspinall could not see. While Aspinall thought he was in the clear and ready to roll for a rematch against Gane, he suffered a setback during a sparring session, and he made the decision to relinquish the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

Hokit has made it clear that he’s not sold on Aspinall’s eye problems, telling Ariel Helwani that he believes the Salford native attempted to get out of his UFC deal. Appearing on the “Believe You Me Podcast,” Hokit told Michael Bisping he deserves props for continuing to fight despite losing vision in his right eye. “The Incredible Hok” also hurled a dig at Aspinall for staying on the sidelines (via Home of Fight).

“But at least you were trying to find a way, you know when you get poked in the eye and it’s like immediately ‘I cant see,’ yeah no ‘sh*t’ you can’t see, take five minutes,”Hokit said. “He wasn’t even trying, at least you were trying, that’s why you’re the king of England.”

Aspinall will have to wait until 2027 to see how much his right eye heals on its own. If things go the former champion’s way, then he can avoid what would be a third surgery on the impacted eye and fourth procedure in total since his last outing.

In the UFC 334 main event, Hokit will be challenging Ciryl Gane, who has been promoted to undisputed heavyweight champion status after being the interim titleholder. The title fight will be held inside Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 14.
