UFC legend Jon Jones says F1 racing legend Lewis Hamilton went on a tirade after seeing footage of Jones hunting pigs from a helicopter.

Former two-division UFC champion Jon Jones is an unorthodox man in and out of the Octagon. Jones is arguably the greatest fighter to ever compete in the UFC Octagon, despite a checkered history outside of the cage.

During his time at the top of combat sports, Jones cultivated many relationships with celebrities as he found success. One such relationship was with Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, who is an avid Mixed Martial Arts fan and has attended numerous high-profile events.

Jones is an avid hunter and gun enthusiast, as he’s shared in numerous videos on his social media pages. Hamilton, a proud vegan, detests any form of animal cruelty and blames the meat and dairy industry for environmental issues.

After Jones went on a hunt with military members in 2021, his friendship with Hamilton came to an end after footage surfaced on social media.

In a recent interview with ALF Global League, Jones explained how a hunting trip ended his friendship with the face of F1 racing.

“Funny story – Lewis Hamilton,” Jones began.

“I went hunting years ago with a bunch of Army Rangers. We ended up hunting pigs from a helicopter, using AR-15s. I was so proud of myself because I killed one of the pigs from the helicopter. My pig was donated to an underprivileged family in the community. But Lewis saw me shoot the pig from the helicopter, and he wrote me a long message. Saying that I was a coward and that I was better than that. Said that the traditional way of killing an animal should be with a spear or with a bow and an arrow.

“That only a coward can shoot an animal from a helicopter, and to give the animal the chance to fight me back at least,” Jones continued on Hamilton. “He unfollowed me, blocked me, and it sucked because I was his fan! Lewis, if you’re listening, I’m sorry, man. I’m sorry.”

Luckily, Jones has demonstrated the tendency to squash beefs, including most recently with UFC CEO Dana White. Jones and White squashed their recent feud at UFC 329, with the former UFC champion calling the CEO a ‘homie for life’.

Hamilton has won seven Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles during his career and is considered one of the greatest drivers in racing history. Despite their separate GOAT cases in their respective sports, Jones and Hamilton may never fully see eye-to-eye.
