Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler remains focused on his recovery and helping the team compete rather than worrying about his upcoming contract situation.

The veteran is entering the final season of his current agreement, which will pay him $56.8 million during the 2026-27 campaign.

Butler, who recently turned 37, will become eligible for a contract extension on February 6 and has previously expressed his desire to finish his NBA career with Golden State.

According to ESPN, the Warriors have not offered Butler in trade discussions since he suffered a torn right ACL in January.

General manager Mike Dunleavy reportedly considers the forward an important part of the organization’s plans for the next several seasons.

Before last season’s trade deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks rejected a potential package for Giannis Antetokounmpo that would have required Golden State to include either Butler’s or Draymond Green’s contract.

During the offseason, the Warriors also declined to offer Butler alongside draft picks in possible trades for Anthony Davis or Jaylen Brown.

Golden State could create nearly $60 million in salary cap space next summer, making Butler’s contract situation an important consideration for the franchise.

However, Butler emphasized that negotiations and financial decisions are not his responsibility.

“I don’t pay attention to it,” said Butler. “My job is to go out there and hoop. You got to talk to [my agent] Bernie Lee, you got to talk to Mike Dunleavy, whoever else specializes in that aspect.

“My job is to help us win, to compete at a high level and be the best leader, teammate, vet that I can to these young guys. That’s what I control. So, that’s what I do control.”
