Jere Haavisto set the fastest time during the EMX Open time practice session. The Finnish rider finished ahead of Dave Kooiker, who claimed an impressive second place for the Netherlands. Damien Knuiman completed the top three.

Peter Koenig finished fourth, while Jeremy Knuiman recorded the fifth-fastest time. This meant that three Dutch riders placed inside the top five. Former MXGP-winner Ken de Dycker was in 17th.
