Veteran center JaVale McGee is taking his career overseas, agreeing to a one-year deal with the Illawarra Hawks of Australia’s National Basketball League, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.
The 7-footer joins the reigning NBL champions following a 16-year run in the NBA that included stints with 10 different franchises and three championships.

He spent part of the 2024–25 basketball year with Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rico before finalizing his move to Australia.
Across 909 career NBA games, McGee averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting nearly 58% from the field.
He won titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018, and with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
