Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are expected to collide with one another later this year, and three three-division world champion James Toney has shared his thoughts on the fight.

While he may be older and recently retired, it is Fury who fight fans seem to believe has more left in the tank ahead of a long-awaited clash against Joshua, with ‘The Gypsy King’ having hardly lost a round in two outings against Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach so far this year.

As for when ‘AJ’ made his return last month, the scars of previous battles were there for all to see, as he was twice knocked down in the opening round of a predicted mismatch against Kristian Prenga, before bouncing back and scoring an emphatic second-round knockout to spare his blushes.

Despite that showing, in an interview with About Boxing, former middleweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight world champion Toney admitted that he is favouring Joshua to get the better of his rival due to the fact that he is the more athletic fighter of the two.

“They are both in the back end of their careers, but I think that Joshua should win because he is a lot more athletic.”

It seems as though Madison Square Garden in New York is the most likely destination for the all-British affair, with November being the mooted fight date, but Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has recently threatened to call the event off if an official announcement for the fight is made without his final approval.
