Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJames Harden and the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly interested in continuing their partnership beyond this season, but league sources suggest nothing has been finalized yet regarding a new contract.
According to ESPN, Harden’s play during the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals could still influence the value and structure of any future agreement with Cleveland.
The veteran guard’s contract contains flexibility for both sides.
Harden holds a $42.3 million player option for the 2026-27 season, while the Cavaliers would only owe $13.3 million guaranteed if they chose to exit the arrangement entirely.
Reports also connected Harden’s earlier departure from the Los Angeles Clippers to concerns about the organization moving toward a roster reset and hesitating to fully commit financially long-term.
Although Harden has produced several strong performances during Cleveland’s postseason run, his Game 1 outing against the New York Knicks drew criticism.
Jalen Brunson aggressively attacked Harden defensively late in the game, particularly during crunch time and overtime, as the Knicks took control of the series opener.
