Tottenham have made Martin Dubravka their fourth signing of the summer in a move which will pave the way for Antonin Kinsky to become first-choice goalkeeper.

Experienced former Newcastle and Manchester United stopper Dubravka has agreed to join Spurs on a free transfer after he left Burnley at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

The decision to turn to Dubravka instead of target a high-profile keeper is the latest show of faith in Kinsky, who bounced back from a nightmare display against Atletico Madrid in March to star in Tottenham’s successful relegation battle.

Italy goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is expected to leave Spurs this summer, Kinsky will become number one and have Dubravka, 37, behind him for support and competition.

Dubravka said: “It’s an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family. I’m looking forward to it.

“Everything moved pretty quickly and I’m really happy to be here.

“I’ve loved watching (boss) Roberto (De Zerbi)’s teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here.

“Tottenham is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and I can’t wait to meet everyone and get started.”

Dubravka spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Manchester United as back-up keeper and will likely get opportunities at Tottenham in domestic cup competitions.

Excellent with the ball at his feet, the Slovakia international follows Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke in joining De Zerbi’s revolution at Spurs this summer.

The manager said: “I am very happy because Martin is a goalkeeper with big experience and a strong mentality.

“He has very important qualities for me and will bring balance, leadership and competitiveness to our dressing room.”

But with another deal completed Tottenham are yet to reinforce their midfield, a major area of focus for De Zerbi this summer.

The biggest saga of the window so far is their interest in Sandro Tonali, and it appears both clubs involved in that deal have been hit with a blow to their midfield shortlist.

Midfielder rejects Premier League move

According to Sky Italy journalist Matteo Barzaghi, Inter Milan midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic has rejected a move to England.

We reported Newcastle were eying the midfielder in January and their interest was since renewed this summer, and Barzaghi claims both Spurs and Brentford also made offers.

The 20 year-old, who spent the season at Belgian side Club Brugge, is "determined" to make it at Inter however after they activated an €23m option to bring him back to Italy.

“He turned down Brentford – and I’d add Tottenham too. He’s absolutely determined to stay at Inter. Then there are the various dynamics of the transfer market but Inter want players who are absolutely determined to stay.”

The defensive midfielder made ten Champions League appearances for Brugge last season, scoring twice and providing two assists, while his 2.9 tackles plus interceptions per game ranked third for his side, who made it to the knockout round before being sent home by Atletico Madrid.

Tottenham and Newcastle will have to look elsewhere to strengthen in midfield, and it could be a double blow for the Magpies if they miss out on Stankovic and this forces Spurs to up their interest in Tonali.
