Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayFormer India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh could be set for a new chapter in his cricketing journey, with reports indicating that he is likely to join Delhi Capitals (DC) as part of a major coaching overhaul ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027. While the franchise has not made any official announcement yet, multiple reports suggest that significant changes are expected behind the scenes following another disappointing campaign.
Delhi Capitals finished sixth in IPL 2026 and once again missed out on the playoffs. As a result, the franchise appears ready to revamp its support staff as preparations begin for the next season. The expected changes come as operational control of the franchise shifts back to JSW Sports under the ownership arrangement between the team’s co-owners.
Reports hint at Yuvraj Singh’s arrival in Delhi Capitals coaching setup
According to reports, Yuvraj is being considered for the role of batting coach as part of Delhi Capitals’ new-look coaching group. If confirmed, it would mark the first formal coaching assignment of his career since retiring from international and franchise cricket in 2019. Although Yuvraj has never held an official coaching position, his influence on several current Indian stars has been widely acknowledged over the years.
Players such as Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh have frequently credited the former World Cup winner for helping them refine their batting and develop mentally as cricketers. Reports also indicate that Yuvraj played a role behind the scenes in discussions involving Rishabh Pant’s anticipated return to Delhi Capitals. Interestingly, Pant had reportedly expressed a desire to see Yuvraj involved with the franchise during earlier conversations with the management.
The former India all-rounder’s vast experience, combined with his reputation as a mentor for young batters, could make him a valuable addition to a team that has often struggled to maximize its batting potential in crucial moments.

Delhi Capitals eye fresh start after another disappointing season
The expected coaching reshuffle follows a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign in which Delhi Capitals finished outside the playoff positions despite possessing a talented squad. Reports suggest that the current coaching group, which includes Venugopal Rao, Hemang Badani, Munaf Patel and Ian Bell, may not be retained for the upcoming season. Delhi Capitals remain one of the few original IPL franchises yet to win the tournament. Their best performance came in 2020 when they reached the final but fell short of lifting the trophy.
With IPL 2027 on the horizon, the franchise appears keen to reset its cricketing structure and build a stronger foundation for future success. While official confirmation is still awaited, reports linking Yuvraj with a coaching role have already generated significant excitement among fans eager to see the legendary all-rounder return to the IPL in a new capacity.
