So i got this crack from stringing. How bad is it and does it affect the performance of the racket?

Interesting I'm assuming this is the top middle two mains a1,A1. Are we looking at replacement the grommets? I know there are a couple racquets with alt coloured grommets on the first few mains but these might be new. It's common to have to replace these grommets and It's possible the stringer saw the damage in the frame and replaced them out of an abundance of caution. HOWEVER... Most stringers would have contacted you as soon as this was discover get some direction info before going through with it.

It does appear to be somewhat superficial. I've seen damage like this in the same location once before on a 100zz but the customer said it's been that way through multiple restrings without issue. Performance wise? zero impact. Longevity? It looks on the better side of bad. Certainly an odd location, damage like that is usually found on the outside of the frame and caused by split grommets.

Do you use a load spreader?

Do you use a load spreader?

No, do you recommend getting one and if then which one?

You nailed it... why wasn't that my first thought ?

And OP, yes you do need one. they are cheap and easy to aquire on online retailers. Make sure it's a white or light coloured for better contrast against black grommets for when you are threading

Yes, it is mandatory.
I had a racket strung by a shop during a tournament. I didn't notice anything at first but I later spotted a crack at twelve o'clock. Learned that it was because the stringer didn't use a load spreader.
That's one of the reason why I decided to string myself 😄

Classic case of high noon desease due to a missing load spreader. The racket itself doesn't look too bad though. So I'd expect that it could last a long time if you use a load spreader from now on.

Is this a good one?

Is that for one? Quite expensive. Just get a couple off aliexpress.

Or if you have a 3D printer there's files floating around on google and you can just print a couple.

I've always used two, one at the top and one at the bottom.

I like these ones. I shaved the collar to properly slide on to my mounting pins. But either configuration would be better than nothing. Again, do not buy “black” ones. Choose white or any lighter colour.

I have the white pair that fit my previous alpha machine posts but can't use them on the klippermate I have now becuase the posts are too thick.
I use a rubber spacer similar to a power pad against each post to cushion the racket at both ends. So far so good.
