Iran, Australia crowned champions at AVC Beach Tour Yunyang Open 2026

CHONGQING, China – Iran’s Amirali GhalehNovi and Abolhassan Khakizadeh, along with Australia’s Stefanie Fejes and Taliqua Clancy, emerged as champions at the AVC Beach Tour Yunyang Open 2026, which concluded on Sunday at Yunyang Sunshine Beach in Chongqing, China.

Over four days of intense competition from June 18 to 21, Asia’s top beach volleyball teams showcased their talents in one of the premier stops on the AVC Beach Tour calendar, delivering thrilling matches and memorable performances in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

In the men’s tournament, GhalehNovi and Khakizadeh produced a dominant campaign to capture the gold medal for Iran. The Australian duo of Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher settled for silver, while compatriots D’Artagnan Potts and Jack Pearse completed the podium with the bronze medal, resulting in a strong Australian presence among the medal winners.

The women’s competition saw Australia’s Fejes and Clancy continue their impressive form to secure the gold medal. China’s Jiang Kaiyue and Zhou Mingli delighted the home crowd with a silver-medal finish, while Japan’s Shiba Asami and Murakami Reika claimed bronze after another solid outing on the continental tour.

The tournament once again highlighted the growing standard and competitiveness of beach volleyball across Asia, with teams from across the continent battling under the spectacular setting of Yunyang Sunshine Beach.

The successful staging of the Yunyang Open further reinforced China’s position as an important destination on the AVC Beach Tour, providing athletes with a world-class competition environment and fans with an exciting showcase of elite beach volleyball.

The AVC Beach Tour now moves on to its next stop as teams continue their quest for continental honors and valuable ranking points.
