Ipswich Town and Coventry City are now keen on signing a "super underrated" Premier League star in the summer transfer window.
Ipswich and Coventry eyeing new signings after promotion
The Championship play-offs have been controversial to say the very least, with Middlesbrough alleging Southampton sent a spy to their training ground ahead of the first leg of the semi-final.
The Saints have since gone on to book their place at Wembley with a 2-1 victory on aggregate, with the final against Hull City due to take place on Saturday May 23rd.
Having seen what's unfolded, Ipswich and Coventry may be relieved to have already secured automatic promotion, with the latter club finishing as champions, 11 points clear of Kieran McKenna's side.
Of course, it won't be easy to remain in the Premier League next season, which means it is important for both sides to get their recruitment right this summer, and they have already started identifying potential targets.
In fact, AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott has attracted interest from both clubs, with the Irishman scoring a whopping 31 goals in 47 matches for the Dutch side in all competitions this season.
Ipswich and Coventry eyeing another striker alongside Parrott
Performing in the Netherlands is one thing, but Parrott's Premier League experience is very limited, making just two appearances in the competition, and a striker who is already proven in the top flight is now of interest to Ipswich and Coventry.
That is according to a report from Sports Boom, which reveals the promoted sides are keen on signing Burnley centre-forward Zian Flemming, who is set to be available for around €20m (£17m) this summer.
The former Millwall man has no intention of playing in the Championship again, and a move to either the CBS Arena or Portman Road would allow him to remain in the Premier League.
The top tier is where the Dutchman belongs, according to B/R Football's Lyes Bouzidi, who said in March: "I think Zian Flemming is super underrated. Definitely good enough for this level."
Zian Flemming's key stats this season
Burnley's campaign serves as a warning to Ipswich and Coventry as to what could happen if they fail to make the right additions to the squad this summer, having amassed just 21 points all season, which means they have already been relegated.
However, Flemming has flourished, scoring more goals than any other Burnley player, and outperforming his xG by 2.25.
Zian Flemming's Premier League season by numbers
- 27 appearances
- 10 goals
- 0 assists
- 7.75 xG
- 102 duels won
- 90 defensive contributions
It could be viewed as a risk to sign a player from a club who were relegated without putting up much of a fight, but Flemming has proven he deserves another chance in the Premier League.
