Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 continued to witness breathtaking moments as Tilak Varma produced one of the biggest hits of the season during the high-scoring contest between teams in Dharamshala. The stylish left-hander played a sensational unbeaten knock to guide the Mumbai Indians (MI) to a crucial six-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Still, it was his gigantic six off veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal that completely stole the spotlight.

Tilak Varma’s monstrous 106m six leaves everyone stunned

The breathtaking moment arrived in the 16th over of Mumbai’s chase when Chahal tossed one up in an attempt to break the growing momentum. Tilak quickly got into position, dropped onto one knee and unleashed an extraordinary slog sweep that sent the ball soaring high over the long-on boundary.

The shot travelled a staggering 106 metres and even crashed onto the roof of the Dharamshala stadium, leaving commentators and fans stunned. It instantly became one of the standout moments of IPL 2026. The gigantic strike also helped Tilak equal the season’s record for the longest six. Earlier in the tournament, David Miller and Tim David had also registered 106m maximums.

Tilak powers Mumbai Indians to crucial win

Apart from the gigantic six, Tilak also delivered a match-winning innings under pressure. Chasing 201, Mumbai lost a few wickets at important stages despite strong starts from Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. Rickelton narrowly missed his half-century after smashing 48 off just 23 deliveries, while Rohit struggled to accelerate before falling to Chahal for 25.

With the chase entering a tricky phase, Tilak took complete control of the innings. The left-hander combined aggression with composure, stitching together crucial partnerships with Sherfane Rutherford and Will Jacks. Tilak eventually remained unbeaten on a stunning 75 off just 33 balls, but despite guiding the Mumbai Indians home comfortably, their season had already ended as they were knocked out of the playoff race.

Punjab Kings suffer another setback

Earlier in the evening, Punjab Kings posted a competitive 200/8 after impressive contributions from Prabhsimran Singh and Azmatullah Omarzai. Prabhsimran continued his fine form with a fluent half-century, while Omarzai’s late cameo provided valuable momentum in the death overs. However, Punjab once again struggled to finish strongly after losing wickets in clusters during the middle overs.

For Mumbai, Shardul Thakur starred with the ball by claiming four wickets, helping restrict PBKS despite the strong start.
The defeat extended the Punjab Kings’ disappointing losing streak, while the Mumbai Indians walked away with another important victory, thanks largely to Tilak’s breathtaking innings and unforgettable 106m six.
