Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade. 

After voluntarily writing for Fresh Press for two years, helping to build and establish the Read brand, Daniel started a part-time job with Fresh Press that later turned into a full-time writing and editing role, writing for club-specific pages such as Read Norwich, Read Celtic, Read Liverpool, and Read Arsenal.

Daniel spent just shy of a year writing and editing for Liverpool-based website, Anfield Watch, which included conducting and/or transcribing interviews with Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, former Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Since the summer of 2021, Daniel has worked for Snack Media (now Valnet) and has been a contributor to Football FanCast, on a freelance and full-time basis, as a writer and editor. 

Daniel is a Norwich City fan and season ticket holder. He has been heard on BBC Norfolk and helped DAZN with research for their commentary due to his knowledge of the club, along with being featured in several local papers across the country, including the Coventry Telegraph and the Liverpool Echo, for Norwich-related content. 

Daniel's knowledge extends to Scottish football, having covered Celtic and Rangers for several years. He particularly enjoys producing player analysis and producing transfer content.

The Whites have reportedly agreed a deal with the Wales international to bring him to Elland Road from Craven Cottage when his deal expires next week.

He opted against putting pen to paper on a contract extension with the Cottagers, which means that he will become a free agent when his deal ends at the end of June.

Leeds will then snap him up on a free transfer to bolster their squad for the 2026/27 campaign, as Daniel Farke and the 49ers look to improve the attacking options at his disposal.

Wilson scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 36 appearances in the Premier League last season, and will be hoping to offer a similar level of production in West Yorkshire.

Leeds in the race to sign Barcelona forward

The only concern for the Whites will be about whether or not he can replicate those numbers, because he has not been a consistent performer throughout his top-flight career, as that was his first season with more than six Premier League goals.

That may be why the 49ers are also looking at another left-footed right winger who could arrive at Elland Road with the potential to be an even better signing than Wilson.

According to reports in Spain, Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in a deal to sign forward Roony Bardghji from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that they are one of a number of Premier League teams vying for the Sweden international's signature, but does not name the other sides battling the Whites for him.

It adds that the left-footed winger could move on from the Camp Nou because they need to raise money through sales for financial reasons, which could open the door to a permanent exit.

However, the report reveals that the Catalan giants have not yet set a price tag for the attacker and a loan deal could yet be on the cards for him.

Why Roony Bardghji could be better than Harry Wilson

Wilson, who turns 30 next March, is an experienced player who just had the best season of his Premier League career, and may have already peaked.

There is a chance that last season was an anomaly for the Welsh attacker and that he goes back to his previous levels of production, scoring roughly five goals a season, which is still a solid return.

Bardghji, on the other hand, is a winger who is on the up and still has plenty of development to go through, which he could do under Farke's coaching at Elland Road.

If you take their per 90 statistics into account, the Swedish wing wizard had more impressive underlying numbers than Wilson that suggest that he is more likely to have long-term success in the final third.

He averaged more xG, more xA, and more successful dribbles per 90, suggesting that he would be more productive than the Wales international if given the chance to start week-in-week-out instead of being a reserve player behind Lamine Yamal at Barcelona.

The 20-year-old talent, who journalist David Ornstein claims wants to be the "world's best player" in the future, also created one 'big chance' and provided one assist with an exceptional piece of skill in the Champions League for the Spanish giants.

Wilson, meanwhile, has never played a game in any European competition in his career, which speaks to the superior pedigree that Bardghji would join with.

The Sweden international, therefore, could be an even better signing for Leeds, particularly if they can secure a permanent transfer, as he has the potential to offer more consistency in the final third, as well as having more long-term potential at the club.

It is now down to the Whites to strike a deal with Barcelona, though, and it remains to be seen how expensive that will turn out to be this summer.
