Joel Embiid is known as “The Process” after being the cornerstone of the Philadelphia 76ers’ rebuilding strategy.

The 76ers big man is still aiming for his first title, and now has acquired players with championship experience like LeBron James and Jaylen Brown.

Speaking with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Embiid’s best chance for a championship run was with Jimmy Butler in 2019.

“This is in my opinion the biggest opportunity he’s had since the Sixers added Jimmy Butler in 2019 where they were one bounce away from the conference finals. Now he gets Jaylen Brown and he gets LeBron James. And guess what? The sand in the hourglass is getting less and less for his career,” McMenamin said.

Philadelphia ended the 2018-19 campaign with a 51-31 win-loss record, earning the third seed in the Eastern Conference, but was eliminated by the Toronto Raptors in the semifinal playoffs.

Embiid averaged 27.5 points, 13.6 boards, and 3.7 assists, while Butler added 19.4 points, 6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game for the Sixers.

It has been over seven years since both players were at their peak and reached the second round of the playoffs.

Ben Simmons also managed to help with 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game.

Although “The Process” stood a chance for this upcoming season, there are doubts along the way due to its health sustainability. 

The 32-year-old has suffered dozens of individual minor ailments and over 15 major injuries in his career.
