Andy Pages’ left hand was fractured by a Bubba Chandler pitch on August, but the Dodgers outfielder told The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya that he has started to hit off a tee and is no longer feeling any discomfort in his hand.  Manager Dave Roberts told Sportsnet LA and other reporters that Pages “is coming quickly” towards a return, and could continue his rehab work at the Dodgers’ spring camp or even start a rehab assignment during the team’s upcoming road trip that begins on Friday.

Pages had a minor surgery on his hand shortly after the injury, which seems to have him well on pace to meet or top his estimated recovery time of 4-5 weeks.  Ideally he’d be able to return before the end of the regular season so he could shake off any rust, but the true goal for all parties is to ensure that Pages will be healthy for the start of the playoffs.

• Ryan O’Hearn will likely begin a Triple-A rehab assignment on Tuesday, according to multiple Pirates beat writers.  A left quad strain has kept O’Hearn out of action since July 31, as O’Hearn became one of many important Bucs hitters who were sidelined during the team’s playoff drive.  Just about everyone but O’Hearn and Endy Rodriguez is now healthy, but a 5.5-game deficit in the wild card race may be too much for the Pirates to make up.  O’Hearn has hit .270/.334/.454 with 17 homers over 398 plate appearances in his first season of a two-year, $29MM free agent deal.
• Speaking of teams trying to hang in a wild card race, the Orioles moved within three games of the Guardians with today’s victory over Cleveland.  It remains to be seen if Ryan Helsley can help out with a late return, but O’s manager Craig Albernaz told reporters (including MLB.com’s Jake Rill) that Helsley will throw a live batting practice tomorrow or Wednesday.  The closer has pitched only 15 1/3 innings this season due to recurring elbow issues, and the second of his two IL stints has lasted since June 30.  If the live BP leads to a minor league rehab assignment, Helsley could be on pace to be activated from the 60-day IL in perhaps a week or so.
• Brewers prospect Luis Pena had to be carted off the field Saturday after the infielder suffered a fractured left fibula while sliding into third base on a steal attempt.  JR Radcliffe of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes that Pena will begin rehab this week, and is currently on crutches with his left leg in a splint.  Pena went from high-A to Double-A ball for the first time in 2026, and while he hit .296/.380/.415 over 292 total PA, his playing time was limited by absences due to a dehydration incident, hamstring problems, and now this leg fracture.  Still regarded as one of the top prospects in baseball, Pena’s standing in next year’s top-100 lists figures to drop a little in the wake of this abbreviated year, but he still projects as a major part of Milwaukee’s future (though he was reportedly offered as part of a package for Tarik Skubal at the deadline).
