The Light Blues are already making moves to address the lack of proven Scottish players who know the league and what it takes to succeed by swooping for Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland.
Rangers are set to sign the Scotland international, who made the squad for the World Cup, on a free transfer from the Jam Tarts to bolster their options at the top end of the pitch.
Shankland, who captained Hearts this season, is an experienced star and leader who could be a strong presence in the number nine position for Rohl.
Rangers in talks to sign central midfield star
Bringing the Scottish centre-forward, who scored 16 goals in the Premiership this season, to Ibrox is only the first step to creating a strong spine of players for next season.
The Gers are now reportedly looking at a midfield talent who could arrive after Shankland and form part of the strong spine that the Gers are looking for.
According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers are one of the teams interested in a deal to sign Hacken central midfielder Silas Andersen in the summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Light Blues are advancing in talks with the Swedish outfit to secure a deal for the star to bolster Rohl's options in the middle of the park.
However, it adds that Celtic and Portuguese giants Sporting are also keen on the 21-year-old defensive midfielder, which means that it will not be an easy deal to do, and states that they will have to spend big money to secure his services.
It has been reported elsewhere that Sporting have already had an offer of up to around £9m accepted by Hacken, so the Gers will have to move quickly in these talks to ensure that they do not miss out.
What Silas Andersen can offer to Rangers
Whilst Shankland looks set to lead the line as a proven, physical, Premiership goalscorer, Andersen could be another part of a strong spine for Rohl as a tough-tackling defensive midfielder.
The German head coach needs a core of players he can trust to deliver consistent performances, from the goalkeeper, to the centre-backs, to the central midfielders, to the strikers.
Shankland is a good step in the right direction on that front, and signing Andersen ahead of Sporting and Celtic would be another step forward for the Ibrox giants.

In the 2025 Allsvenskan season, the central midfielder averaged 4.9 tackles and interceptions per game across 26 appearances, whilst no Rangers player in the Premiership this term averaged more than 3.1 per match.
This suggests that the 21-year-old star has the potential to be Rohl's most effective combative midfield player, as he wins the ball back for his side more regularly than any of the Gers players do through tackles and interceptions.
The Dane, who was described as "relentless" by U23 scout Antonio Mango, has also shown signs of quality in possession for Hacken in the current Allsvenskan campaign, completing 2.3 dribbles per game and creating eight chances in seven games for his teammates.
Andersen is a well-rounded midfield talent who offers outstanding defensive contributions, great physicality in duels, and technical quality on the ball in the middle of the park, drifting past players as a dribbler and providing creative passes.
Rangers, therefore, should be pushing to beat Sporting to the signing of the Danish starlet because he has the potential to form a strong spine at Ibrox next season, alongside Shankland and other potential signings at centre-back and in between the sticks.
If he can adapt to Scottish football and deliver the kind of performances that he has displayed in Sweden, Andersen would be the kind of reliable and quality player that Rohl needs in midfield.
