UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria had some interesting picks for ‘best boxer’ when discussing his ideal fighter in a recent interview.

Few could have imagined that Ilia Topuria would rise up through the ranks in the Ultimate Fighting Championship as quickly as he has. In his next outing, the two-weight world champion will put his gold on the line in the main event of UFC Freedom 250 when he goes head to head with interim champion Justin Gaethje.

While many believe that Topuria is the clear favorite to pick up the win and unify the belts in style, you just never know for sure what is going to happen at the elite level of mixed martial arts.

Recently, in a departure from talking about his own future, Topuria was asked to name some of the best boxers that are either currently competing in the UFC or have done in the past.

“He’s not anymore a UFC fighter,” Topuria said of Till, “but his boxing actually was good. And I think that at this point he’s fighting in boxing. Conor was also a good boxer. Petr Yan. And of course my brother. I know how he box. And for me, he’s the best boxer in the UFC right now because I know his level, I know his skills, his technique, everything. I would say that he’s one of the best boxers in the UFC right now. Maybe people don’t know a lot about him, but with time, they’re gonna know it. It’s coming.”

As for Ilia, you would have to imagine that he will continue to prove his abilities in the boxing department for as long as he decides to grace us with his presence in mixed martial arts.
