Islam Makhachev repeatedly expressed interest in fighting Kamaru Usman, Michael Morales, and Carlos Prates rather than Garry. The Irishman, on the other hand, has been calling out Makhachev nonstop after getting his hand raised at UFC Qatar last year.
However, the UFC has now given the short-notice risk-taker a title shot he rightfully deserves for being a company man and also the top 170-pound contender.
