I'm having difficulty with 2-piece method on drivex 12 on last (top) cross since a6,a8 main are so close to a7, the main loops over a7 and covers it. I can't budge the string enough with usual piece-of-scrap-string trick.

Does anyone have some tips for this?

My much older thruster helps get around this by offsetting the grommet slightly away from the centre line

Use the same string trick, pull the blocking string in the direction of where the grommet is more towards the trench of the frame. And if you have your awl, shove it into the hole to try to make as much room, you can let it sit there for a bit. Then it should give you more space to easily shove the string through. Didn't know the staggered single grommets of the dx12 was also a problem.
