Jeffrey Herlings won the qualification race in Shanghai, with the Dutchman being chased throughout the entire race by Romain Febvre.

Febvre got the hole shot but was overtaken in the first lap by the World Champion. Tom Vialle came in third ahead of Jan Pancar and Andrea Adamo.
