Unai Emery has lived up to his reputation of being a serial Europa League champion at Aston Villa.

Hoisting the trophy aloft at the close of Wednesday's memorable 3-0 win over Freiburg in Istanbul, the Spaniard has now won this European competition an astounding five times as a decorated manager.

It's back to the Premier League for the ecstatic Villans later today, who will all be nursing slight hangovers, still, as they face Manchester City on the final day of the season.

Having already clinched Champions League for the next campaign, this showdown has very little riding on it, as Emery goes about adding in a couple of fresh players here and there this summer to take his team up a level.

The one-time Arsenal boss even spoke of his aspirations to turn Villa into surprise Premier League title challengers, at the close of the unforgettable victory in Turkey.

Aston Villa linining up move to sign £60m forward

It isn't completely out of the realms of possibility that the West Midlands side could lift the Premier League in the near future, with Leicester City's daring example used by Emery as a clear inspiration.

They could have to wave goodbye to Morgan Rogers in the summer, though, but they're rumoured to be in for Tijjani Reijnders from Manchester City to try and soften that blow.

To complement an ageing Ollie Watkins up top, as well, Football Insider has revealed that the recently crowned Europa League champions are keen on a deal for Newcastle United hotshot William Osula.

It is noted that this could be a hard move to get over the line, as the Dane is firmly in Eddie Howe's first-team plans now at Newcastle, but never say never when it comes to a summer move for the £60m striker.

If Villa were persistent and secured Osula, they could be about to pick up their second coming of Jhon Duran, with the Colombian a real force to be reckoned with at Villa Park, as another attacking option Emery fell back on when Watkins wasn't firing.

Why Osula can be Duran 2.0 at Aston Villa

Duran's playing days at Villa felt as if they were over in the blink of an eye.

He was situated in the West Midlands across three seasons, but he was regularly utilised as an impact substitute when opposition legs were tiring, leading to him only starting seven Premier League games in total.

Yet, despite his minimal first-team minutes, the South American hotshot would leave his lasting mark in the top-flight, scoring a blistering 12 goals along the way. As Rogers would once put it, Duran thrived as a presence thrown into games late on to "cause havoc."

Osula operates in very much the same way for Newcastle, with his former Derby County teammate, Curtis Davies, noting that the Copenhagen-born striker is a "poor man's Haaland" for how bulldozing he can be when powering through on goal, alongside his ability to score a superb strike from nothing.

From only 745 minutes of top-flight action this season, the Magpies number 18 has seven strikes next to his name, which included an outrageous solo strike towards the start of March, finding the back of the net, which sealed a 2-1 win for Eddie Howe's men against Manchester United.

Emery is surely frothing at the mouth at the prospect of chucking him into Villa games next season to fill the void that has never been plugged since Duran's departure to Al-Nassr.

Emery will have a tough battle on his hands, tempting Osula to walk away from St James' Park just as he begins to make moves in the first team on Tyneside.

But, it shouldn't be written off completely, with Villa's Europa League final success and Emery's ambitious words making the West Midlands giants a very attractive club to join.

Having also witnessed how loved Duran was donning claret and blue, Osula would surely love to be that figure for a team higher up the league standings than the Toon, as an intriguing transfer fight might be on the cards this summer.
