Daniel is an experienced football writer and editor, having worked in the football media industry for over a decade.
After voluntarily writing for Fresh Press for two years, helping to build and establish the Read brand, Daniel started a part-time job with Fresh Press that later turned into a full-time writing and editing role, writing for club-specific pages such as Read Norwich, Read Celtic, Read Liverpool, and Read Arsenal.
Daniel spent just shy of a year writing and editing for Liverpool-based website, Anfield Watch, which included conducting and/or transcribing interviews with Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg, former Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, and journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Since the summer of 2021, Daniel has worked for Snack Media (now Valnet) and has been a contributor to Football FanCast, on a freelance and full-time basis, as a writer and editor.
Daniel is a Norwich City fan and season ticket holder. He has been heard on BBC Norfolk and helped DAZN with research for their commentary due to his knowledge of the club, along with being featured in several local papers across the country, including the Coventry Telegraph and the Liverpool Echo, for Norwich-related content.
Daniel's knowledge extends to Scottish football, having covered Celtic and Rangers for several years. He particularly enjoys producing player analysis and producing transfer content.
James Tavernier will officially leave Glasgow Rangers when his contract expires at the end of June, making him a free transfer for the upcoming summer transfer window.
After a decade at Ibrox and 565 appearances for the club in all competitions, the veteran right-back's last game ended up being a 3-1 defeat against the other team from Glasgow.
Tavernier was not afforded the chance to lead the team out one last time as captain against Hibernian, as Danny Rohl informed him that he would likely be on the bench for the last game of the season at Ibrox.
The Gers captain then decided not to play in that match and did not feature against Falkirk on the final day of the season, making it a sour end to a fantastic career at Ibrox.
That drama is all behind Rangers and Rohl now, though, as Tavernier is due to leave the club, and attention must now turn to replacing him this summer.
Rangers lay groundwork to sign James Tavernier replacement
Dujon Sterling has only played 34 times in the Scottish Premiership since the start of last season, which suggests that he does not have the fitness record to be the only replacement for Tavernier.
That may be why Andrew Cavenagh and the recruitment chiefs at Ibrox are already looking at an external replacement for the Light Blues captain.
According to RangersNews, the Scottish giants are interested in a deal to sign Hammarby right-back Hampus Skoglund in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that the club are laying the groundwork ahead of a potential swoop to bring the Swedish full-back to Ibrox to replace Tavernier for Rohl.
It adds that their interest in Skoglund is more advanced than their interest in fellow Swedish star Oskar Fallenius, whom they are not planning to pursue a deal for.
RangersNews reveals that the Gers are exploring a move for the defender, who is reportedly valued at around £2m, and it now remains to be seen whether or not they are going to make an official bid for his services.
What Hampus Skoglund would bring to Rangers next season
The Light Blues should push to bring Skoglund to Ibrox for £2m this summer because he could be an upgrade on Tavernier in the right-back position.
In the 2026 Allsvenskan campaign so far, the Swedish star has shown that he has the potential to offer significantly more to the Gers from a defensive perspective than their captain did this season.

Skoglund is currently averaging 2.1 more tackles and 0.7 more interceptions per game than Tavernier did in the Premiership, which suggests that he is far more likely to break up opposition attacks with key defensive actions.
The Rangers captain's last game saw him exposed by a ball over the top as Kieran Tierney raced past him to tee up Daizen Maeda to put Celtic 2-1 up, and his defensive statistics for the entire season suggest that he rarely made vital interventions to cut out attacks.
Skoglund, therefore, could be a significant upgrade on Tavernier because he, on paper, is a stronger defender who is more proactive when it comes to cutting out attacks by winning duels and making tackles and interceptions for his team.
The 22-year-old star also averaged 3.5 tackles and interceptions per match in the Allsvenskan in the 2025 campaign, which shows that his current form is not just a flash in the pan that Rohl and Cavenagh should overlook.
Skoglund has provided four assists in his last 36 league games for Hammarby, which is as many as Tavernier registered in 34 league games this term, and this suggests that Rangers would not lose much in the way of creativity by signing him to replace the captain.
The Swedish star is not a goalscorer, as he has not scored in the league in the past 18 months, but not many teams rely on their right-back to score 15 to 20 goals a season, which is why the Gers should replace Tavernier's goals by signing forward with more quality.
As a right-back, Skoglund could be a big upgrade for the Light Blues because of his vastly superior defensive numbers and his similar creative output, and it is now down to the club to get a deal done for him this summer.
