What does the future hold for Tottenham Hotspur next season? Well, whatever happens, another 17th place finish would be totally unacceptable.
As Roberto De Zerbi put it after the climax of the season a week ago, there is no time for holidays. Spurs need to bounce back ASAP with plans for a summer revival already underway.
Two new signings are pretty much done and dusted already with the hierarchy on the verge of wrapping up deals for Liverpool's Andy Robertson and Bournemouth's Marcos Senesi.
Both players are leaving their respective clubs on free transfers following the conclusion of their contracts, meaning these are two particularly shrewd moves.
That said, those at the top know they will need to spend if Spurs harbour ambitions of challenging for major honours.
Spurs looking to sign new winger
Away from Robertson and Senesi, the most likely of signings right now looks like Manchester City's Savinho.
Spurs tried hard to sign the player a year ago and even went as far as to reportedly lodge bids for the Brazilian's services. Yet, City ultimately kept the wide forward and handed him a new contract.
Yet, it now looks as though he will finally depart the Etihad Stadium. Spurs have allegedly already held club to club talks in a bid to get him to north London.
Tottenham's most expensive signings of all time
A detailed look at Spurs’ 10 most expensive signings of all time.
Savinho is not the only winger on Tottenham's radar. Indeed, according to reports in Spain, via Sport Witness, they have also cast their eyes in the direction of Real Betis' Abde Ezzalzouli.
According to the report, both Spurs and Aston Villa are said to have opened intitial talks regarding the player, approaching Betis over a potential move.
They also face competition from Newcastle United to sign a player valued at around £52m. That's the price of release clause so if the Lilywhites were to bid that amount, a deal could be sorted swiftly.
How Ezzalzouli compares to Savinho
Since Spurs were first interested in signing Savinho from City a year ago, it's safe to say the wide player's stock has fallen a great deal.
In 2024/25, the Brazilian had registered as many as 13 assists. He was one of the most creative wingers around. Yet, as he struggled for regular minutes after the arrivals of Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, Savio started just seven times in the league, scoring only once and assisting twice. In all competitions, he added an extra assist and three goals.
He may well be Premier League proven but in Ezzalzouli, they would find a more exciting talent, a more explosive wide player capable of taking English football by storm.
This season, the 24-year-old played 29 times in LaLiga for Betis, scoring nine times and registering ten assists. It really was a breakthrough campaign for the Moroccan who lit up Spain's top-flight week after week.
While he might be a left winger, operating on the opposite flank to Savinho, he looks a more complete product.

As far as carrying and dribbling goes, Savinho is one of the best in Europe so it's always going to be tricky to usurp him in that department. However, when it comes to what every good forward is judged on - goals and assists - Ezzalzouli is clearly streets ahead.
That said, while the numbers suggest the City star is better with the ball at his feet, the Betis superstar is no slouch. The footage below shows just how good the Morocco international is in tight spaces.
In 1v1 situations, he is so tricky to stop and he could be just the answer Spurs have been looking for off the left flank.
Heung-min Son left a year ago and they have certainly not made much of a move to replace him yet. Yes, Tottenham did have plenty of injuries in the forward line this season but regardless of that, you sense their attack is not good enough.
Ezzalzouli would certainly raise the quality in the squad and would give their attacking play a level of unpredictability it has been missing.
