Arsenal are looking to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting this summer but signing the attacker has so far proved to be difficult.

Sporting are holding firm in their valuation of the attacker and the Gunners are still involved in talks with the Portuguese club, despite the player being determined to join the Gunners this summer.

Mikel Arteta needs a new striker to lead his attack next summer. The Arsenal boss has shown ambition this summer with new signings, having already completed the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi while move for midfielder Christian Norgaard is edging closer.

The Premier League giants are also involved in talks with Sporting to sign Gyokeres this summer, the striker who scored 54 goals for Sporting last season.

Despite this confidence, reports from Portugal, via Record, indicate that Fenerbahce are prepared to test the waters if Arsenal’s negotiations hit a stumbling block.

The Istanbul club, who are looking to add firepower ahead of a push for the Turkish Super Lig title and Champions League qualification, are said to be considering a loan approach for Gyokeres should Arsenal’s pursuit collapse.

Gyokeres, 27, is one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers following a stellar season with Sporting.

Record also reports that Gyokeres is aware that negotiations can change quickly and is “prepared for the worst” should complications arise in his move to the Premier League.

Sporting, for their part, are open to cashing in on the forward at the right price, but they will not lower their valuation for a player who was instrumental in their success last season.

For Fenerbahce, the opportunity to sign Gyokeres would be seen as a statement move, adding a striker of proven European pedigree to their squad. Although the Gunners are still favourites to sign him, the Turkish club would be keeping a close eye at the development.
